One of the fun things about homeschooling is that we have control over what is taught and learned. We have asked our son to write down what it is he would like to learn about during our first year of homeschooling. Included in his list are: the military - it's branches and duties of each, spelling (this one surprised me!) and he also wants to learn how to cook. Seeing that he likes to eat...and eat ...and eat...( a normal teenage boy I guess) this is a good choice. Not only will he learn the basics of cooking and baking, but also meal planning, budgeting, grocery shopping and eating healthy.
I believe in eating healthy but I also believe in moderation...moderation with eating sweets. I found an interesting and delicious sounding recipe in a blog I enjoy. http://cookiebakerlynn.blogspot.com/ ...a recipe to make your own marshmallows. I had no idea a person could do this! I think we'll give it a shot. Thanks Cookie Bake Lynn for the recipe! http://cookiebakerlynn.blogspot.com/2010/05/marshmallows-new-improved.html
