We decided to follow the school calendar of our middle child who attends our Lutheran High School in our area. Today that school has off for teacher conferences...so that means my youngest and I have off of homeschooling.
Sticking around the house with nothing special to do was unapplealing to all of us....so the boys are taking advantage of matinee prices to see a movie.
Our kids are responsible for paying for their own tickets to movies and computer/XBox games etc. Our son knows how much he has in his bank account and he thinks twice before spending it.....he likes to save up for special items he wants....and sometimes has said 'no' to going to a movie or buying something else because he wants to keep more money in the bank. We have a lot more learning to do regarding financial responsibility.....which will be included in his subject of math. This is another reason I feel good about homeschooling this son...to be able to concentrate on things he needs to learn to 'survive' in the real world....practical things....like saving money, emphasizing the difference between wants and needs. Don't get me wrong....I know there are classes in the regular schools that teach finance, and do it well....but I know what exactly my son needs to learn and how he learns it best.
So off to the movies we go.....
